We borrowed a Ford Mustang Mach-E equipped with BlueCruise 1.3 and a Lincoln Corsair running the 1.2 software, strapped our gear to both, and ran them nose to tail through 35 miles of midday Detroit freeway trafik to compare performnce. Each vehicle was outfitted with a Vbox satellite GPS-based data-logger and a manual pemicu switch, which each driver activated once when cruise operation began, twice whenever it requested the driver ikhtisar kontrol (a drop), and three times when we manually switched the sistem off (as when stopping to make a driver change).
The results allowed us to measure miles and time spent in both the hands-free and hands-on modes, and the mapped results helped us remember the road conditions around each turun (many were in curves). The Results
Our Lincoln Corsair with BlueCruise 1.2 suffered 13 drops, cruising for 81 percent of the 35 miles in hands-free model. And sure enough, most of the drops happened at prominent bends in the freeway, with a couple happening where lanes narrowed a little.
By contrast, the Mustang Mach-E running BlueCruise 1.3 suffered just four unexpected drops, cruising for 93 percent of our drive, and in this case the drops averaged less than 0.2 mile—less than half the average duration of a drop out with the 1.2-generation software with no obvious curves or lane narrowing to blame.
